I Will Survive

When jazzers were at war with disco (as if that were the real war) I found common cause with Gloria Gaynor and the sentiment of "I Will Survive." I fucking loved that cut and still do. I used the guitar parts in thirds at the end of “This Is Not America” from that cut because I knew and loved them. It was a tribute and no critic caught it because they don't listen that long or deeply into anything because one has to listen to the end to catch it.

The guitar parts I wrote for Pat at the end of “This Is Not America” were taken directly from that Gloria Gaynor track because I listen to the end of every argument before I speak, as Atticus Finch and so many real people taught me. - LYLE
