REFLECTIONS

LYLE: Pat flew Steve and me to Miami where Pat and I wrote We Live Here. I had always felt that we were an American band and should own that. Turns out that Pat was ready to embrace that too. Long story short, we wrote We Live Here very quickly. I think we finally embraced Marvin Gaye and the huge influence Black American culture had on us.

DAVID BLAMIRES: While recording We Live Here at Hit Factory in 1994, Mark Ledford and I had finished contributing our parts for the day and Lyle was slated to spend the evening laying down keyboard overdubs. So I eagerly hung out in the control room for quite a few hours while his overdubs were being tracked. I recall being mesmerized as the layers of synth and organ etc were added to some of the tracks. I recall feeling this sense of awe, as I considered the perspective of how a musician who I had admired & idolized for so many years was here in the studio, creating parts for an album that I was going to be a part of.
